Grilled Peaches and Plums
Stone fruits, like peaches and plums, are absolutely delicious and sweet, but they can be even better when grilled. Grilled peaches and plums are a healthy, yummy snack on their own and a great addition to any meal. The flavors and texture completely alter the way the fruit tastes and feels, giving you a completely new experience. Grilled with a crispy and hot finish, grilled peaches and plums can elevate and complement any dish.
How to Make Grilled Peaches and Plums
To make grilled peaches and plums, just slice the fruit open and take out the pit. Lightly spread sugar over them and place on the grill. You can cook these directly on the grill if you’d like or wrap them in tin foil. Either should work fine, but if you want to be a little bit cleaner try the tinfoil; if you care more about perfect grill marks then place them directly on the grill. Let them cook for about five minutes. The sugar on top will glaze and crisp, making a sweet, hard coating and a warm centre. You can use whichever type of sugar you’d like, regular white, brown, or even vanilla to alter the taste and texture.
If you don’t quite want them to be as crispy or cooked, you can take them off whenever you want. Both preparation and grilling is extremely simple and fast to do and they should take less than ten minutes to make in total.
Although we’ve discussed grilled peaches and plums here, you can really do this with any stone fruit. Try mixing it up and try various fruits, different sugars, or adding various toppings. You could drizzle some caramel over them either before or after grilling. You could use maple syrup to coat the fruit instead of sugar as well for a different flavor. You could also cut up nuts and add them both before or after.
Although you can be as creative as you like, grilled peaches and plums really need no extras as they are delicious on their own. Whether you want to be creative or not, grilled peaches and plums are a classic. You also don’t need to cook them different to be creative. Consider different ways of using them. Eat them on their own as a snack, put them in ice cream, or add them to a salad.
Think of other fruits too, and try mixing them. If they don’t work you always have your grilled peaches and plums to fall back on. We suggest grilled watermelon as a great choice.
